about

I decided to make this the title of the album. I felt is encapsulated something that I really wanted to convey: that, sometimes (to varying degrees), we will tell ourselves almost anything, whether or not we or others believe it; just to feel ok, or move on, or bury our head in the sand.

The piece itself was written for P. Flynn Eckenrode. He was such a dear friend during our short time together. It was originally a much longer piece, titled "Absence of Light", that one of my previous bands (Unicorn Derby) performed a couple times. The song was amazing; with a very Disintegration-era The Cure-feel. I have included the full words as an artwork attachment to this track.

lyrics

If you could go back and start all over,
Would you sink, or swim, or fly?
How much time would you spend changing,
Or would you even stop to try?

Me?... I can't see past the present.
I keep my distance, far away...
There is a piece of you in my heart.
I think about, every day.
